Celebrating first 150 Births for Bridger Birthing this year! Here are a few statistics we want to share.
Each situation is absolutely unique, and nobody can predict outcomes from statistics. Still, we feel that these numbers speak to women’s and babies’ innate abilities to accomplish the amazing transition of birth most of the time with minimal interventions.
The following 150 births represent only mothers who started their labors at home. Transfers into medical care during pregnancy are not included.
First time moms: 53
Moms planning a home VBAC: 7
Moms who gave birth before: 90
Vaginal birth completed at home: 138 (= 92%)
Hospital transfer resulting in vaginal birth: 6 (= 4%)
Hospital transfer of first-time moms resulting in cesarean birth: 4 (= 2.7%)
Hospital transfer of VBAC moms resulting in repeat cesarean birth: 2 (= 1.3%)
Number of mothers who needed hospital transfer AFTER their birth at home: 1
Number of babies who needed hospital transfer AFTER their birth at home: 0
Girls: 68
Boys: 82
Smallest: 5lbs 2oz
Biggest: 10lbs 3oz
Percentage of babies exclusively breastfed at 6-8 weeks: 98%
